Have a look at this gem, fellows:

Yes, magazines will be spent and useless after firing. Absolutely. I always throw all of my magazines away after shooting. Totally. I know the brain can’t feel pain, but this kind of open ignorance makes my braincells scream for mercy.
And these people make gun laws. Worse, there are people actually electing them. That is really scary.

According to denverpost.com, her spokeswoman explained, “The Congresswoman has been working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years, and has been deeply involved in the issue; she simply misspoke in referring to ‘magazines’ when she should have referred to ‘clips,’ which cannot be reused because they don’t have a feeding mechanism”.
To make the whole thing even worse, Rep. DeGette told the Sheriff next to her that she had seen the YouTube proving that the difference between smaller magazines and larger ones is only a second or two at best, but she still didn’t understand how stupid she was. Maybe she believed that each magazine that dropped in the video was now a “throw away” and “spent”?
The funny thing is clips are only really used by old guns. Anything modern I’ve ever fired used magazines. I also love the term “high capacity assault magazine”. 30 rounds is standard in my AUG. High cap would be the drum mags we can legally buy in Austria.
Of course she “misspoke”, that’s the standard excuse when found out about spewing crap. And yeah, I agree, she probably believed that. These people write laws without even understanding how a gun works. This is what happens when you drop military conscription.
Even today clips are used regularly for fast loading of external magazines. But, of course, using clips to load the internal magazines of rifles or to fit within them is archaic for weapons designed to kill people. It is still perfectly reasonable as an approach for loading hunting rifles.
“High capacity” in a rifle is, in my estimation, any number beyond that needed when hunting, which is probably no more than two rounds and certainly no more than five rounds.
High capacity is anything past standard cap. My Glock 17 has a standard mag of 17 rounds. My AUG a standard mag of 30 rounds. If I was to buy a 100 round drum mag for the AUG, that would be high capacity. Just like a 30+ mag for the Glock.
If stupidity were the measure of a nation’s greatness then the US Congress would assure us of perfection.
Well, it would be a really close call between the US congress, the EU “parliament” and every other politician running around. Right now I feel that my local city government would win that contest. It’s a socialist-greenist combo. It was bad before when it was just Red, but now that Green has been added, oh my gods, the stupid, it hurts.
Isn’t it funny how so many readily compare the incompetence of their governments? It’s not even an old trend!
Why it’s almost like we all expect that!
