Busy at work, dismayed by society, awed by human deceit.

It’s been another of those job-packed yet short-staffed weeks.  The work day certainly goes by fast.

Have been more-or-less following current events, but probably wouldn’t be posting on them even if I had the mental energy to come up with something thoughtful.  Obama hides behind other people’s children while shrieking fury if anyone mentions his own.  Yawn.

The Manti Te’o story is the weird, unexpected one.  I’m having more trouble wrapping my brain around it than xpat did trying to decipher that incompetent AP sportswriter.  And Notre Dame is testing the idea that Te’o is a victim?!  That seems…statistically unlikely.

I’m with Megan McArdle on this one.  The interesting thing about mendacity isn’t what liars tell us, but what they told themselves first.

I've accepted that all of you are socially superior to me. But no pretending that any of you are rational.
