If I had it to do over…I would scale back on the nuclear fusion and clean coal, instead devoting at least half of the available space for feature articles on psychology, sociology, economics and political science…I’ve come to the conclusion that the technical details are the easy part. It’s the social engineering that’s the killer.

(Blood…pressure…spiking)  Mr. Gary Stix is both absolutely right and an utter idiot.  Why? He finally realized that engineering people is harder than engineering pistons.  And what does he do?  He shares this…epiphany…as though it’s news!  How old were you when you learned his latest lesson?  Some of you were probably pre-verbal.

Mr. “Scientific American” realized that psychology trumps physiology!  What an insight!  No one had ever realized it before, but:  The Hand That Rocks The Cradle Is The Hand That Rules The World.   Stop the presses!  Oh, and Gary…

To be effective, a new set of institutions would have to be imbued with heavy-handed, transnational enforcement powers.

I guess we should give Gary a break.  Witless people have no choice but to use “heavy-handed” tactics.  Thankfully, he’s too foolish and stupid to be dangerous.  In fact, read the following, which–no, really–we’re supposed to take seriously:

How do we create new institutions with enforcement powers way beyond the current mandate of the U.N.?

Historically, all that works is war and enslavement.

Could we ensure against a malevolent dictator who might abuse the power of such organizations?

Er…no.  No, Gary, you couldn’t.  See, you would be that malevolent, “heavy-handed” tyrant. 

Gary, Gary, Gary.  You poor little thing.  Apart from technology there’s nothing new under the sun.  It’s all been tried before, Gary.  By non-stupid people, even!  Geniuses have failed to take over the world.  Where they failed, Gary-Come-Lately will succeed?
