I see the great comments on the latest “poke an atheist” thread, am working hard on responding. But I just had to link this post by ace. It’s actually an amazing business analysis of D&D, if you speak a little geek. He also protests that he no longer plays…protesteth too much, methinks.
Anyway, what’s geekier? Playing D&D with actual friends, or buying and reading the books but no longer gaming? I bought one 4th Edition AD&D book, didn’t like it, bought no more. No doubt the 5th Edition will be given a chance, too.
I prefer Earthdawn myself. Fun and rather unique system that reinforces all the fantasy tropes with actual logical reasons for said tropes to be there
Thanks for the reminder of that one! Out of the dozens of games I’ve played and read (mostly read) that may be the most popular one I never learned. It’s on the wishlist now and will be bought someday.
Legend of the Five Rings is good for Far Eastern Samurai and Sorcery as well
