I’m sure some of you have already seen Splice. It’s a powerful, heartbreaking movie.

The writing and performances are very good. The shape of the movie makes it obvious how things will end, but knowing you’re witnessing a Greek tragedy doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate the specifics.

Note that there are moments of hybrid nudity and sex. But they’re not there for cupidity. Well, not by Hollywood standards, anyway.

Playing God is one thing. Taking it seriously is another.
