I recently posted about the extremely pathetic begging for money practiced by colleges and universities. Their prices have vastly outstripped inflation for decades. They get lots of government money. Most of their students have to take out loans, sometimes crippling loans, to afford them. They have endowments ranging from big to jaw-dropping. But that’s just not enough.
Again: you don’t let your grocer beg for money. We don’t let primary school educators shake down students. What makes secondary schools different?
Well, Cornell and Dartmouth folks have gone even further. You’re a student who doesn’t hit their tip jar?
Okay, let’s name names. Corey Erle, you’re a snivelling little bully of a beggar. Nariah Broadus, would you let your plumbers and mechanics publicly insult you for not tipping them?
And get this:
…someone using the pseudonym Arnold Tungsten published Ms. DeLorenzo’s name and photo on a popular Dartmouth student site…
Someone using a pseudonym outed another person! You’re a real man’s man…”Arnold”.
So, congratulations to Ms. Laura DeLorenzo and Ms. Erica Weitzner. There actually are a few profiles in courage here.
And way to go, Cornell and Dartmouth! You preening panhandlers.
