Today Instapundit has multiple Ponzi scheme references; one from Bloomberg, another from old-school liberal (ie. occasionally rational) Roger L. Simon, who misses Bernie Madoff.

Gosh, guys…it’s always wrong to compare government redistribution programs to Ponzi schemes. 

You aren’t forced to be a part of a privately run scam.  Bernie didn’t threaten everyone with legal or even physical force if they didn’t fork over the dough.

The worst Ponzi schemer in history will always have more moral authority than a government that redistributes wealth as an end in itself.
